This app is a CLIENT for the Blue Iris Windows PC software. In order to make use of this app, you must have Blue Iris version 4.x installed and running on a Windows PC. Instructions for connecting this app to the PC software are found in the Networking topic of its Help file.

This app provides a single point of contact to your home camera network. There is no need to insecurely open individual cameras to the Internet. This app connects using a secure and session-based protocol-no passwords are transmitted in plain text. I love Blueiris but this app leaves alot to be desired. It crashes constantly when doing anything.

It detects my phone as a tablet so the layout of the UI is unbelievably difficult to use. The push notifications are pretty much useless / featureless. The audio in and out works maybe 50% of the time if that and when it works it usually dies in a few minutes. The design of accessing alerts over time vs new alerts is confusing. PTZ functions properly on about 50% of my cameras, but they work fine on the desktop app. I can go on and on but this app needs a redesign with useability, modern design and functionality in mind. Geofence doesn't seem to run in the background on my S8, so far silence from the developer.

If you're like me and keen on using the geofence, consider something else, I'll update this comment if they fix it. Otherwise it works, but it's generally unsightly and could be easier to use. Why do I have to scroll to the bottom of the settings page to change schedule? And what about a widget that didn't show any cameras but gave quick access to the traffic signal, preset and schedule?

For the considerable price, this app doesn't impress. It's a good app in terms of functionality. There are a few things I wish were better (I'm hoping the app developers see this).

Automatic connect works very inconsistently. Sometimes you'll open the app and I can hear the connect sound from the Blue Iris server but the app is stuck there trying to connect (happens both when connected through the LAN and WAN). Sometimes cancelling and trying again fixes it, sometimes you have to force close the app and launch it again. Ideally the app would skip showing the connect/server select screen and jump straight into the main screen. I'd love it if the push notifications sent a still image so I don't have to pull up the app and wrestle with it trying to get it to connect if it doesn't work initially. This would also make it so I can just glance at my Android Wear watch when a notification comes in.

It'd be nice if they had shortcut buttons on the bottom of the screen to jump to Cameras or Alerts rather than having to open the hard to reach one-handed hamburger menu every time. It has a very dated look and the icon, when converted to black and white on modern Android, is a solid white cube. A switch to Material Design would be nice.
