Manual Old Oven Eaton Viking

 admin

Long time, no see. I was at my sister's house for Christmas, and she was telling me that the oven door on her old stove (Eaton Viking Model HP-SS3064-T made by Frigidaire, serial # 8402 03810, 'Code': SC4) didn't close tightly. Basically, the door hangs open a bit, and I remember I fixed this same problem years ago by replacing the door hinges (part number ). I have a service manual, but I'm not 100% sure that it's the service manual for my sister's stove. That service manual says on the front of it: ELECTRIC RANGE SERVICE MANUAL 1985 MODELS RESCO DIVISION OF WCI CANADA LIMITED MANUFACTURED BY HUPP PART NO. 902598 And, if I remember correctly, Resco was the parts distributor for Frigidaire appliances years ago.

Anyhow, I'm wanting to replace the door hinges again, but the above manual is pretty sketchy on what to do. From what I can understand, the procedure is as follows: 1. Open the oven door about 10 degrees and pull the oven door off the hinges. Remove the drawer under the oven and unhook the spring from the old hinge. Remove the two screws holding the oven door hinge to the front of the stove, and remove the oven door hinge. Installation of the new oven door hinge is the reverse.

Does this sound about right, and is it gonna be a real fight unhooking and rehooking that spring? Also, in my Windows Cardfile for my sister's house, I also have a note saying that the 'pin' for her oven door hinge is Part #. I wouldn't have made a note of that unless this pin was something that I might need to have a spare one of.

Do you know if there's a pin that has to be relocated on that door hinge, or what the story is behind this pin? Thanks for any help you can be here. #584674 - 12/30/09 12:28 AM Re: Door Hinges on Eaton Viking (Frigidaire) range Carpal Tunnel Registered: 09/24/03 Posts: 12684 Loc: Ont Canada.

Thanks, Jeff. I'll be at my sister's house next week and see if I can get that oven door off by either method. Now she's also telling me she got a shock from one of the console switches, so I'll take the back panel off and see if I find anything funny going on with the wiring too. Reliable told me they had one hinge in stock and would have to order another one in. I told them to hold off and I'd get back to them.

I wanna see what's happening with that wiring in the console to make sure that's fixable first. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again. #584676 - 12/30/09 08:46 PM Re: Door Hinges on Eaton Viking (Frigidaire) range Carpal Tunnel Registered: 09/24/03 Posts: 12684 Loc: Ont Canada.
