Today, like every day on GOTD the software is FREE, nobody is forcing you to put your hand in your pocket and buy it and like all the other GOTD offerings, the developer is hoping that should you find his/her software to be of some use that you might consider buying it. Personally, I haven't downloaded it or tried it out, so in no position to pass comment on the software, I don't have very much use for such software.

Perhaps it would be more helpful if comments were limited to the strengths and/or weaknesses of the software, after all that is what this forum is supposed to be about. How about a bit of adapted rhyming slang?

It's nice to be a price, but higher to be a buyer (derived from the original slang which takes a friendly dig at my northern compatriots) it's nice to be a Preiss (Prussian) but higher to be a Bayer (Bavarian). Yes indeed, batch processing at their regular price would takes one's breath away, but as today's gift I gave it a try and I'd say due to the fact that us here are rapidly moving up the scale towards professional kind of software I'd say, harmless enough to install. Now, as a I am in no need of converting half a ton of doc(x)s I scaled the trial down to some 15 docx'ses I was able to dig up from the depth of a yesteryear storage. To find those in the first place I used the search field inside the software, ticked subfolders and hey presto!

Up they came. I then set target to a common new folder created on the desktop, pressed convert and again - whoosh, and they were inside that folder. The beauty was that the software created new folders inside that common folder replicating the original storage place. So if you have a thousand folders you care to batch convert at least you only have to move your converted files to those thousand original folders. Or else you go through one folder at a time. Whatever your needs are, quite an intelligent piece of software as they go. Installation on Win10 64Bit, Word 2016, doc and doxc equally well converted.

Go ahead and be a Pro(fessional), just once (that is if you want to be). Nice day and thanks to GOTD and batchwork tm! Want a laugh? How about a bit of adapted rhyming slang?

Nice day and thanks to GOTD and batchwork tm!. Paul, yes, I can see the point of using such conversion tools in companies where not so long ago, doc and docx were used for everyday work. Now that even the local tinkerers have gone over to digital storage and are required by law to store for so and so many years, it is certainly smoother and document-safer to have pdf files ready at hand. At the price of $ 179 or so you need incredibly cheap labour to do bulk jobs with the inevitable questionmark whether cheap labour is capable of doing so. Other countries may such labour available, in my 'shack' they were booted out some years ago.

Nowaways a section /department leader also does everything him-/herself including feeding the Giga-Printer in the corridor. Paul, If you see no need to convert nobody worries and it is perfectly in order. But in the business/legal world, pdf is the universally accepted standard (ever heard of ISO standards?). You may be aware that in other fields too, the digital availability of now known and used formats is a great feature of concern. Printed matter is difficult to preserve, all over the world specialists have had employment preserving and restoring documents, nowadays digitizing what is considered worthy the effort before lengthy restoration processes of the original matter is begun. The problem with digitizing is the file format.

Perhaps you are not aware that once used formats are 'dead', in fact the original software requires the operating system and this in its turn the hardware of that time. Import filter software can be had, but not for all formats and what's more, they, too cost and often still requires afterwork. Makes the cost of a batch conversion tool available now seem negligible. So, before one, from a very personal point of view, is dead against something one ought to consider that one's personal views are not necessarily based on the needs of others. I speak my mind openly enough when I feel that software on offer is more than likely useless or worse, based on my assessment of the company, on views and ratings by the worldwide community and, not forgetting, what the software is intended for, simply because of the fact that a Windows PC is a fairly vulnerable machine. PDF is a complete waste of money.FROM. PDF is better, and there are not many good reliable converters, but this is primarily due to the way PDFs are - their whole point is to be separate from the application that created them. There are so many free PDF printers - Nitro PDF, Cute PDF Writer, etc. It doesn't matter what application you have, you can create PDFs. A specific program to 'print' from Word to PDF is therefore extremely limiting.

The only benefit is if you don't have Word and cannot open.DOC files, but even then, there are free Office suites which are Office compatible. Spending any money on a converter.TO. I.think. there may be something else in play as well, Chris. The whole purpose of PDF & Microsoft's XPS, is to package the contents in a way that's easily viewed/read, but more difficult for the reader to re-use that content for their own profit.

While software to convert PDF to Doc or whatever format isn't quite in the same league, it's similar to software that decrypts DVDs, & while I could be wrong, that seems to limit where the companies writing that software are located, as well as their potential market. Or put another way, you're less likely to see a major company like Microsoft or Corel sell such a thing alongside their office products, though ironically both brands advertise their products will open a PDF for editing.

#4 As a Frankie Howard would say, me gast was flabbered, $179 for being able to do in batch mode something LibraOffice does for free but on an individual basis. Took the same documents for test; one combined English text with Chinese and was formatted in different colours and also contained links. Today's program produced a document in which all was preserved. LibraOffice produced a document in which all was preserved.

Possibly if I had thousands of documents that needed converting on a daily basis it would be worth buying, maybe at half the price. You just have to wonder which planet the developers are on!

RSebire, Actually Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Has been able to do conversions both ways at least since 2007. My Office Suite is 2007, and I decided not to upgrade to any of the newer versions because the small amount of additional features are not worth the price Microsoft wants. My version already does everything I want it to do. I have even been able to batch convert, as long as I keep the amount of files under about 24.

Of course it also depends on the size of each file. As soon as I saw what this GOTD was, I was instantly wondering 'Why such a high price?' Especially since I have all I need for such things already! I'm passing on this one with a bit of a snicker. RSebire, Actually Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

I upgrade my office every year as the integration with the cloud really helps me out nowadays. I use the Microsoft Work and Play bundle every year when it's offered in it's limited quantities. (Normally around Christmass) (Yes, I'm that old I spell Christmass with a double s at the end.) Here check it out: You get the latest office, Xbox Live Gold and £40.00 Store credit for around £89.99 The price of the software today wasn't really my concern, it was that I've tried many of the.pdf convertors and each one losses' formatting in one way or another. Kind regards, and thanks for the reply. Cleveland Major, Thanks for the reply.
