I'd only be doing catch up (2 years worth) for him before he sells his business as he needs his financials before he can sell, so I'm a bit wary about taking on his work, particularly as I know it's not ongoing and I have other clients I would have to shift around to fit him in. Jenee, there is a program called TeamViewer which you can download for free. It will allow you remote access to his computer and using his own MYOB Version.

Am kind of relieved he never got back to me as I know his real estate broker has been trying to get him to do his accounts for the last two years and if I'd taken him on I would have had a lot of messy catch up work and only a limited contract as he's trying to sell the business. TeamViewer is a good option I've used before and it does work well, though I had not considered this for this client, thanks for your input. I work with Jump remote desktop (I'm on Mac) with several of my other clients and find this works very well too.
