As promised, here is my setup with the above remote to use it with xbmc. I've bought the above remote some time ago and i'm very happy with it. It's very cheap (about $8-10 on ebay) and works perfectly in combination with intelliremote.

A little overview: Remote OR22V: Frequency: 433.92 MHz RF Output: section of your Keymap.xml (around line #178): Code: ActivateWindow(videolibrary, tvshowtitles) ActivateWindow(musiclibrary) ActivateWindow(Home) ActivateWindow(videolibrary, movietitles) delete ActivateWindow(filemanager) ActivateWindow(scripts) ActivateWindow(programs) moveitemup moveitemdown aspectratio ActivateWindow(MyPictures) copy move rename highlight known issues: system: problem: any key pressed on remote seem to trigger multiple (double/triple) actions, i.e. '1' sends '111' and pressing 'Power' sets PC in standby mode. Solution: along with your x10-driver there is another configuration icon labelled 'remote' set up in your system configuration. Use it to change the listening behaviour of the receiver from 'listen to all channels' to something other than '1' (which is the channel your remote sends data). That way the system does not recognize incoming signals from your remote, but intelliremote still does (due to x10-protocol). Problem: it still triggers double actions, '1' sends '11'. Solution: here is a workaround.

You've got to disable certain registry settings and/or disable the HID listening service for your system so it won't interpret incoming HID signals from your remote anymore. Seems like x10 remotes send both HID AND X10 signals. STEP 1 Load 'regedit.exe' and navigate to: HKEYLOCALMACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Servic es HidIr Remotes 745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da Then delete the keys from 'CodeSetNum0' to 'CodeSetNum3'. To make sure you can recover these keys easily should you want to you should save them by using the export function in the file menu. Once the registry has been changed you will need to reboot for the change to take effect. This same process can be applied to disable automatic keyboard handling.

Just look at the other registry sections under the 'Remotes' sections. Now if you ever want to re-enable the automatic handling of the MCE Remote and MCE Keyboard you just need to put those registry keys back.

STEP 2 Go to Control Panel-Aministration-Services DISABLE the HID Input Service on XP or the Human Interface Device Access service on Vista intelliremote: problem: there is high cpu load when i start intelliremote. Also i see several duplicate HID-Devices listed as USB Devices.

Solution: this is driver related, not an intelliremote problem. If you check your hardware devices manager after installing the x10-driver, you'll notice there are several identical USB-HID devices listed as 'X10 MCE Remote' installed where there should be only one. Never mind - we only need the X10 protocol for our needs. This will fix the high load: 1. Edit the registry HKEYCURRENTUSER Software Melloware Intelliremote IgnoreDevices 2. For the IgnoreDevices key enter the text in quotes exactly like this 'X10 MCE Remote' make SURE it is in double quotes.

Xbmc: problem: when accessing the virtual keyboard in xbmc (trying to rename something, change name for scraping etc.) i cannot get the focus on the keys and i'm not able to move around inside the keyboard window with my arrow keys and cannot select buttons with OK there. Solution: this is because the way i programmed the remote. It acts as a keyboard instead of sending specific codes another remote might send. Get an xbmc rev = 16444 and use this -yet undocumented in wiki- setting in advancedsettings.xml: Code: true this will enable moving around in the virtual keyboard with the arrow keys and use the OK button to select keys. Ok, hopefully i posted all i've discovered with the above remote and it's configuration, and that it might be useful for one or other guys planning to buy a remote that is cheap and works with xbmc. Feel free to add questions you come along with it and i'll try to sort things out. Note to melloware: as i posted nearly the same on xbmc forums, i thought it's a good idea to link that intelliremote profile directly so ppl can access it from there, too.

Feel free to add it to your profiles.zip, but don't expect me to send it to your email adress Posts: 39 Joined: Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:29 pm. Yeah, well, i had 2 main targets in mind: 1.

To find the perfect & intuitive keymapping to access all features of xbmc mapped to 45 keys which enables me to stay away from my computer as much as possible and 2. To cover everything i had to go through in order to get it working the way it does now. This took me a while, experimenting with mappings and checking for usability in live situations and reminding everything i had to fix. But i guess the post was worth the wait also i had mapped number keys to simulate a mouse first, until i found that setting in advancedsettings.xml does a better job and so i had more keys to map again. As a great side effect of this i found the filemanager in xbmc to be extremely useful, as you can i.e. Play/watch any media stored on any of your devices without the need to add sources first, and even better: xbmc is able to play media from within rar and zip archives without the need to unpack it first! I am impressed more and more.

One q though: will it be possible in future to lock the input intelliremote receives from a remote to a specific application/task even if the application itself is not in focus? This came in my mind after i was browsing in xbmc and meanwhile a taskbar info window popped up informing me about the need to reboot after windows update. Focus switched to this window and so i wasn't able to remote xbmc until i stood up and switched focus to xbmc again. Another positive effect of such a locking would be that one can do something in windows while the other is still able to control xbmc with the remote. Posts: 39 Joined: Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:29 pm. Ok, i'll try that on a function that does not do any big action like bringing up the player control screen.

Thanks for enlighting me. Edit: works fine with WinActivate('XBMC Media Center',') applied to the script.

Though it won't work as soon as another profile was loaded during focus. Anyway, enough for me, since i have 2 profiles at the moment, intelliremote and xbmc, and that green button is assigned to fire up xbmc when in intelliremote profile and to player controls in xbmc. Would still like to see a button or switch in intelliremote telling it to stick to the current loaded profile. Posts: 39 Joined: Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:29 pm. Trax0101 wrote:very very nice!

Sometimes i wish i understood script progarmming. I will have to pour over your code and match it up to my remote. Awesome work! Would you be able to add the code for turning on and off subtitles? The code is not really a problem.

To use a key to change subtitles (note: you cannot just turn them off/on, you need to cycle through the available subtitles until it reaches 'disabled') you can use Code: showsubtitles in keymap.xml and then simply map a button on your remote to send that key. The downside of this is: there is no graphical display on xbmc showing you which subtitle is selected when you press that key unless you go deeper into skin programming and find the portion of code that displays this. For changing audio, there is some onscreen info, for subtitles there isn't, so this would lead into try and see.

Not really useful for me. Instead i would recommend using the 'm' button to display the video controls and go to subtitles from there - since there you have an info about what sub u are using. Posts: 39 Joined: Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:29 pm. I can't really get it to work, for some reason IntelliRemote won't start up after having been installed. I am running Win7-64bit and I installed the vista driver that was linked to in the OP.

Upon start up the X10 Device Tester says something like 'The class has not been registered' and if I click 'Transmit X10' I get a access violation crash. I have tried to stop and start the Intelliservice and ofcourse rebooted the computer, also taking out the USB-dongle but nothing seems to help. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do or how to debug this problem further? Is there perhaps some debug switch for IntelliRemote.exe I can turn on to get a debug log out?
