Dell Latitude D430 Wireless Driver Ubuntu
Distribution: Mandriva One 2010 Desktop:GNOME Version: 2.28.0 Video: Intel 945GM Express Chipset Modem: HD D330 MDC v.92 Wireless: Dell wifi 1390 WLAN (BCM4311) NIC: Broadcom Netxtreme gigabit (BCM5752) Smartcard: O2Micro Smartcard Reader Mandriva installs on the system with very few problems. The wifi is supported and is able to run after activation under the “Configure Your Computer” tab. The O2Mirco Smartcard Reader is a different story. Linuxnet makes a compatiable driver through their Movement for the Use of Smartcards in a Linux Environment (MUSCLE). also makes a compatiable driver. As of Novemeber 7, 2009 there are a few bugs in the Mandriva distro that cause a few problems. The problems seem to be centered around the web browsers Firefox and Epiphany.
Firefox will display a message indicating npviewer.bin has crashed. Epiphany will freeze and the user will have to Force Quit the application. An easy fix is to migrate to the SeaMonkey browser which is based on the Mozilla Firefox open-source code. Updated Distro to KDE instead.
Firefox problems no longer an issue. Did not attempt Ephipany. I installed meanwhile some distros forked from ubuntu, since 2012, as i have this notebook. I can fully recommend this hardware for linux users. It runs stable and quick.
The wifi card I had to change with another one, because the original one is not supported by linux. The gps modem i never used, so i cant tell if works or not. I use this notebook for my job 10 hours per day or more. I have no overheating problem. With a new buyed battery pack I achieve 2h 45m effective running time with a slightly dimmed display. I am using this notebook with a dock and Debian Wheezy.
Here are my experiences: - Debian requires non-free iwlwifi to run Wi-fi adapter. If you get a black screen after kernel boot do the following: If you want to use text mode only, pass nomodeset to kernel. If you want to use X, do not pass nomodeset to kernel. Means: before installing X temporarily switch nomodeset. Side scrolling OR tap-to-click.
Not simultaneous. One of it, I don't remember which one, requires recompiled alps driver. In a dock, I have NO IDEA how I've got sound output working, as it doesn't work at fresh install. I have the following things attached to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf: options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m22 enable=1 index=0 alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel Then in alsamixer S/PDIF switch should show up. This turns dock's both analog and digital outputs.
Warm undock doesn't work and it looks like it won't work. I'm using hibernation before un/docking. If you're using this method, remember to prepare some xrandr shell scripts to switch between dock's and notebook's displays and bind it to keys, you'll have to run them blindly.

Hello I have installed Linuxmint on Dell Latitude D430 and the wireless that was working fine with XP professional is not there anymore here is what mintWifi says:. I. Scanning WIFI PCI devices. Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g (rev 01) PCI ID = 14e4:4312 (rev 01) -. II. Querying ndiswrapper. III.
Dell D430 Bios
Querying iwconfig. Lo no wireless extensions. Eth0 no wireless extensions. IV.
Querying ifconfig. The correct driver for this device is not wl, no matter what 'Wireless Drivers' thinks. It is b43 and proprietary firmware. With the ethernet cable hooked up and connected, please do: Code: sudo apt-get remove -purge bcmwl-kernel-source sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer sudo reboot -n Austin.Texas, thank you so much!!
However, I am also facing problem with the terminal. Either it gives me dpkg errors, or just keeps blinking after the command even if I wait for hours. When I close the terminal, it says there is a process there and it would be killed.
